UW–Platteville now can collectively reach 100,500 students in all of Iowa’s 15 community colleges, providing them the opportunity to turn coursework into credits to put toward an on-campus or online degree at UW–Platteville.
The most recent agreement outlines that students transferring from Hawkeye, Des Moines Area, Southeastern Iowa, Iowa Lakes, Iowa Valley, North Iowa Area, Iowa Central, Indian Hills, Western Iowa, Northwest Iowa, Southwestern Iowa and Iowa Western community colleges in Iowa with an earned associate of arts or associate of science degree granted on or after May 15 will have met all UW-Platteville general education requirements with the exception of the ethnic and gender studies requirements.
“This thorough agreement will provide long-lasting benefits for Iowa students wanting to gain a four-year college education,” said Dennis J. Shields, UW–Platteville chancellor. “We welcome these new students and are confident this agreement will allow for a more dynamic workforce.”
UW–Platteville already had articulation agreements with Kirkwood Community College, Eastern Iowa Community College District and Northeast Iowa Community College. The university now has articulation agreements in place with all community colleges in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
“Each semester we enroll approximately 50 transfer students from Iowa,” said Angela Udelhofen, assistant chancellor for Admission and Enrollment Services. “The new agreement will allow even more Iowa students to easily transfer their credits to UW–Platteville."
UW–Platteville offers on-campus academic programs in agriculture, biology, business, criminal justice, education, engineering and industrial technology. UW–Platteville provides eight degrees entirely online: master’s degrees in organizational change leadership, project management, criminal justice, engineering, distance education leadership and integrated supply chain management along with bachelor’s degrees in business administration and criminal justice.
“We believe every course a student takes should bring new opportunities,” said Dawn Drake, executive director of UW–Platteville’s Alternative Delivery Systems. “In today’s economy, every class has to count.”
