Platteville High School Principal Jeff Jacobson is one of two finalists for the Milton School District administrator position.

Jacobson and Lake Mills School District administrator Dean Sanders were the two choices of the Milton Board of Education after a day-long interview session this weekend with six candidates, according to the Milton Courier.

Jacobson and Sanders will be touring the school district and participating in public forum sessions — Sanders today, Jacobson Thursday.

When asked what he was going to tell people in Milton, Jacobson said, “I work in a great district; I’ve had wonderful opportunities seeing many people do excellent work.”

Jacobson said he was drawn to “the size of the district, number one — very similar to Plymouth, where I came from before coming to Platteville.” Jacobson’s wife is from the area, and his brother lives near Milton.

Jacobson interviewed for the district administrator position in the Belleville School District.

“In my life, if I’m going to do it, now is the time,” he said. “If I wait too much longer, I’m afraid I might not have the energy for the position.”

Jacobson said he hadn’t been looking specifically for administrator positions — “it’s one of those things that if the right situation came along,” he said.

Jacobson listed district superintendent Connie Valenza and her predecessor, Dean Isaacson, as mentors.
