The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors approved the remodel of the outpatient/specialty clinic at the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County at their meeting on Tuesday, April 15.
The resolution approved by the board concerning the remodel also allowed the hospital to borrow up to $650,000 in order to complete the project.
According to the resolution, the remodel will support the increased activities associated with a more robust orthopedic program, the addition of the pain clinic and increased growth within outpatient/specialty services available at the hospital.
The cost of this borrowing to Lafayette County will depend on the actual interest rate and repayment terms, which supervisor Wayne Wilson reported to be 2.49% on a 10-year payback plan, during the meeting.
According to the resolution’s fiscal note it is estimated that unbudgeted principal payments in 2014 will not exceed $35,000 and the unbudgeted interest payments will not exceed $10,500. The debt expenditure for the remaining years will be included in the respective years’ budgets.
According to hospital administrator, Julie Chikowski, the remodel and expansion will provide an updated space, additional exam rooms and procedure rooms to support the growth in the hospital.
Chikowski reported that they are planning to begin the project in May and hope to be completely finished in the middle of August and that the hospital will be planning an open house and a meet and greet as the project gets closer to completion.
