Places to go to get out of the cold in Grant County

With the projections of wind chills of dropping to  potentiially -55 , the Grant County Emergency Management office is letting people know where they can go if they are unable to be in warm places.


All communities have some form of warming shelter available. Persons in need of daytime or overnight sheltering in any Grant County Community can call the Grant County Communications Center at 608-723-2157.


It is important to stay safe in such conditions as those gripping southwest Wisconsin this week - These temperatures will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes. A Wind Chill warning remains in effect until noon on Thursday.

For those wanting to get their pet out of the cold as well, ndividual communities and shelters will work out arrangements for pets for people who are sheltered. For assistance, contact your local police department or Grant County Emergency Management (608-723-7171).
