George E. Sebranek, age 86 passed away surrounded by his family on March 13, 2015 at Lakeview Health Care, West Salem.
He was born April 27, 1928 in Hillsboro, WI to Joseph and Emma (Mislivecek) Sebranek and following his parents’ death was raised by relatives, James and Betty Kouba.
He was married to Darlene Benish on Aug. 20, 1952 at Dilly Church. They became parents to Therese, Randall, Mary, Brian and Ryan. He resided in Hillsboro his entire life.
Early in their marriage, George and Darlene ran a family farm. After selling the farm, he owned and operated a Massey Ferguson dealership. Through the years he worked for Wildcat Implement, St. Joseph’s Hospital and John Deere. He ended his career as a mechanic at Heding’s Truck Service where he worked for 22 years.
George enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed many hobbies, such as woodworking, small engine repair and construction. His family members treasure the special items that he had built for them. George was always willing to help others and was faithful to his religion.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Emma, his sister Mary, his guardians James and Betty Kouba, his daughter Therese and his son Randall.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; his children, Mary (Harold) Hanson of La Crosse, Brian Sebranek of Hillsboro and Ryan (Sandi) Sebranek of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Jo (Steve) Peterson, Jennifer (Tim) Steinmetz, Julie (Mark) Betthauser, James (Marie) Brand, Nicole and Kaitlyn Hanson, Jade (Dustin) Oium, Jami, Sophie, Gabrielle, Maria and Jack Sebranek; 10 great grandchildren; Stephanie, Ethan and Matthew Bartels, Ava Peterson, Brooklynn and Sierra Steinmetz, Henry and Dylan Betthauser, Logan Brand and Brigg Oium and great-great granddaughter Harper Olson. He is also survived by a son in law Robert (Julia) Brand and many nieces, nephew and friends.
A mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at noon at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, WI. A visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro.
