Janis Marie Tollefson, 64, of Montello, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, May 2, 2012, at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage.

Janis was born July 2, 1947, in Stevens Point, to Herman and Alice Finnessy Herrick. She was a graduate of Rio High School and married Odell Tollefson on Sept. 30, 1967, in Portage. Janis was a babysitter for many years and later in life she worked for Kwik Trip in Portage until retiring in 2010. Janis enjoyed playing cards as well as bingo; gardening and canning also filled much of her spare time. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in their athletics and school events. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Odell, and their four children, Jerry (Sherrie) of Montello, Todd (DeAnn) of Portage, Tina (Gary) Carpenter of Portage and Traci (Brian) Zurfluh of Montello; as well as her eight grandchildren, Micheala, Jordan, Nathan, Parker, Sydney, Harley, T.J. and Landen. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mildred Tollefson, seven brothers, two sisters and many other family members.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Lyle Tollefson.

A memorial gathering will be was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. There will be no formal service. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is assisting the family with arrangements.
