Letters to The Platteville Journal for Feb. 26

On April 1 there will be an election for a seat on the Common Council.

You need to vote. There are differences between the candidates.

If you feel spending $7,000 to send our city manager and others on a three-day all-expenses-paid vacation to Denver is OK, then one of us is the person to vote for.

I feel that this is a vote that says we the taxpayers are very satisfied with the way the city is being run.
If you feel the city is not spending our tax dollars wisely, then vote for a change.

I was born and raised in Platteville and hope to die here. Both My father and grandmother were born, raise and died here in Platteville.

I have run my auto dealership/auto repair center for the last 30 years, as my dad did before me. At one time I had 10 employees. My whole life I had to make long range forecasts, set goals and hire and dismiss employees.

This lifetime of knowledge I will bring to the Common Council. Not since former city manager Merrill Stroose left town has the city been run the way it is now.

If you want someone who has been in business and think our taxes are high enough and will try to make a change to the way the city is run I ask your support on April 1.

I do answer my phone and I am at 785 S. Chestnut St. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. I welcome your ideas.
