On Veterans Day

I would like to bring some peace to all veterans and Gordon Trucking veterans…

Veterans can look forward to the day when the Bible prophecy that is carved in stone in front of the United Nations building in New York City is fulfilled. It is a man with a hammer in one hand and the other hand he has a sword (weapon).

This man is beating his sword (weapon) into a plowshare. Taking something bad and making something good to be productive with. The Bible prophecy that is written under this man is Micah 4:3, “And he (Jehovah) will certainly render judgment among many peoples and set matters straight respecting mighty nations far away. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. They will not lift up swords; nation against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.” The only people that are fulfilling this prophecy right now are Jehovah’s Witnesses. Jehovah’s Witnesses will not go to war because of Micah 4:3. I hope this will bring some peace and tranquility to all veterans, that not everyone will pick up a gun, sword, knife, etc. and kill you or do harm to you, no matter what side of the globe you are on.

Move the library?

I recall about 30 years ago the City of Platteville chose the Pine Street location for a new public library. At that time I was director of campus planning at UW–Platteville and had a project with the same architect. As I recall he also questioned the library site about two blocks from the university’s central Karrmann library, but he proceeded to develop a plan to effectively utilize the chosen site.

Now the city is preparing replace its central public library with a larger facility but is planning it for the same Pine Street site. Why not find a more central location? The O.E. Gray property comes to mind but apparently it has been ruled out. A site out by Walmart has been suggested but I think it is too remote. Regardless, there must be a better location than the one two blocks from university facilities.
