Letters to The Platteville Journal for Sept. 11

A rating clarification

Last week’s Journal shared how three out of our four schools received “exceeds expectations” in the state school report cards. As a point of clarification, the only reason that Neal Wilkins Elementary did not receive an “exceeds expectations” grade is that they do not have enough data available to be graded.  Most of the state testing occurs at second grade and beyond. I have no doubt that our hard working students and staff would have received “exceeds expectations” had they been graded. Go Little Hillmen!

A random kind act

We were having lunch at Country Kitchen Sept. 2, my husband’s 86th birthday, when our waitress came over and said our lunch had been paid by some lady.

What a nice surprise — a random act of kindness. We will pass it on.

The Platteville Journal will print most letters to the editor, regardless of the opinion presented. The Journal reserves the right to edit material that is libelous or otherwise offensive to community standards and to shorten letters the Journal feels are excessively long. All letters must be signed and the signature must appear on the printed letter, along with a contact number or email for verification. Some submitted letters may not be published due to space constraints. “Thank you” letters will not be printed. All letters and columns represent the views of the writers and not necessarily the views of The Platteville Journal.
