JAKE BYRNE (#82) and the Wisconsin Badgers football team are headed to the first-ever Big Ten Championship Game after dismantling Penn State, 45-7, in their regular season finale at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 26, to claim the Big Ten Leaders Division title. The #15-ranked Badgers (6-2 in conference, 10-2 overall) will face #11 Michigan State (7-1, 10-2) in the championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday, Dec. 3. Kickoff is slated for 7:17 p.m. Byrne, a 6’4” 240-lbs. tight end from Rogers, Ark., is the son of Shullsburg native Jeff Byrne and the grandson of Shullsburg’s Joe and Jeri Byrne. Last Saturday, Byrne provided plenty of blocking for UW’s Heisman hopefuls, running back Montee Ball (#28) and quarterback Russell Wilson (#16). Ball ran for 156 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries, while Wilson completed 19-of-29 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns in their rout of the Nittany Lions. Byrne was one of the 21 seniors honored by the Badgers prior to Saturday’s game.
