Plattevilles Josh Udelhofen shot a 63 on Sunday to break the course record at the Platteville Golf & Country Club. Three days earlier he won the State Match Play Championship in Altoona.

Josh Udelhofen, recent winner of the State Match Play Championship, shot a record breaking 63 from the blue tees at the Platteville Golf & Country Club on Sunday.
Udelhofen shot a 33 on the from nine and a 30 on the back on the par 71 layout. During the record-breaking round he recorded seven birdies, 10 pars and an eagle 3 on the par 5 14th hole.
Platteville’s Greg Faherty and DuWayne Stuelke were playing with Udelhofen during the record-setting round.
Udelhofen, a recent graduate of Clarke University, won the Wisconsin Match Play Championship with a 4-and-3 victory over Sam Frank at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club in Altoona on June 19. The tournament began on June 16.
Udelhofen, who was a three-time Midwest Collegiate Conference all-conference selection and a member of the 2014 NAIA Ping All Region Team, held off Frank in a match that was even until Frank bogeyed the par-3 sixth while Udelhofen made par.
On the 371-yard par-4 8th hole, Udelhofen stuck his approach shot and made his birdie putt to take a two-stroke lead he never relinquished.
Udelhofen, who was ranked No. 1 in Golfstat’s top 30 MCC scoring list this past season, was also ranked 32nd nationally with a 73.0 scoring average. He had eight top 5 finishes in nine events for the Crusaders and was medalist at the Clark, Dubuque and Loras Fall invites, along with the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational.
Up next for Udelhoven is the 113th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship, that will be held July 21–24 at the Ozaukee CC in Mequon, where Udelhofen will compete against 168 of the state’s top golfers.
