Lairds homers not enough to power Fever

SHULLSBURG – Argyle exploded for 17 runs over the final three innings to run away with a 21-5 victory over host Shullsburg/Benton in HTL Sunday League action.

Colton Laird went 3-for-4 at the plate and smashed a pair of home runs while driving in four runs for the Fever (0-2). Tom Behrens added two hits with a double for the hosts.

Lance Rossing and Cory Stamm had four hits apiece for the Orioles (2-0), who scored three runs in the seventh, six runs in the eighth and eight runs in the ninth to break open a game that was tight over the first six innings.

Shullsburg/Benton begins their Night League schedule at Ridgeway on Thursday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. The Fever return home to host Hollandale on Sunday, May 19, starting at 1 p.m.
