Platteville’s Josh Udelhofen is ready to tee it up in the world of professional golf.
Udlehofen, 23, was a prep standout at Platteville High School, a college success at Clarke University in Dubuque and an accomplished amateur golfer in the state of Wisconsin.
The talented lefty capped his amateur career by winning the Ray Fischer State Medal Play Championship in Janesville’s Riverside Golf Course in late June. The win helped Udelhofen finish the 2015 season as the number one ranked amateur in Wisconsin.
Udelhofen will begin his professional golf career this week in Haines City, Fla. near Orlando. He has landed a job in the industry at Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club, where he will work as well as a place to play and practice through the winter.
His intention is to play in as many mini-tour and satellite events within a 150-mile radius as possible, with an eventual goal of qualifying for the Web.com and PGA tours.
As this is a lengthy and expensive process to chase down his dream, a group from the Platteville golf and business community has organized the “Josh Club” to assist with his first-year golf expenses.
The anticipated expense for these tournaments (entry fees, travel, etc.) is roughly $30,000 annually.

As a high school senior he placed second at the WIAA Division 2 state golf tournament in 2010, just a few weeks after setting a state record with a 10-under par 60 at the D2 Dodgeville regional.
Udelhofen was named the 2010 Wisconsin High School Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year. He was also a first-team all-state selection, four-year state qualifier and three-time Southwest Wisconsin Conference Player of the Year.
In college, Udelhofen was a three-time MCC first-team all-conference selection and was named the Clarke team MVP as a senior in 2014.
Udelhofen is the son of Rob and Ann Udelhofen.
