PLATTEVILLE — The Platteville golf team has the busiest week in school history, and quite possibly its most successful.

The Hillmen played 72 holes of golf over a five day span, winning all five events they played.

Junior Nate Busch shot a 1-over-par 38, senior Cade Rohrbach fire a 39 and fellow senior Isaiah Altfillisch carded a 42 to finish first, second and tied for third while leading the Hillmen to a 30-stroke victory on their home course at last Tuesday’s Platteville SWC mini meet.

The first-place Hillmen (ranked fourth in Division 4) won its fifth straight SWC meet with a combined 162, 30 strokes better than runner-up Lancaster (62).

A day later, Rohrbach shot a 2-over-par 74 to lead Platteville to the team title at last Wednesday’s nine-team New Glaurs Invitational at Edleweiss Chalet Country Club.

Busch shot a 79 to tie for third place, while senior Andy Eggers shot an 81 to finish fifth.

Friday the Hillmen, completed a rare, two-city golf doubleheader, winning both events.

The Hillmen shot a 332 to win the Division 2 team title at the Reedsburg Invitational.

Rohrbach shot an 81 to finished third in D2, while Busch (82) and Eggers (84) finished fourth and fifth at the 18-hole event.

On the way home, Platteville stopped in Spring Green and won the sixth and final regular season River Valley SWC mini meet at the House on the Rock Resort.

The Hillmen shot a 162 to beat runner-up Lancaster (183) by 19 strokes.

Altfillisch finished second with an 38, while Rohrbach and Eggers each shot 41 to tie for third individually.

The Hillmen entered Wednesday’s Southwest Wisconsin Conference Championships at Viroqua Hills with a commanding lead in the league standings with 36 points. Lancaster (28.5) is a distant second.

Altfillisch (1st, 170.5 points), Rohrbach (2nd, 168.5) and Busch (4th, 167.5) are all alive in the race for this year’s SWC Player of the Year honor.

Eggers is currently fifth in the individual SWC standings with 154 points and is looking to hold on to a first-team all-conference position.

On Saturday, Platteville helped the SWC defeat the SWAL in the 10th annual Southwest Cup, 11–5. The Cup is a Ryder Cup style match-play event.

Rohrbach, Altfillisch and Eggers each won individual matches to account for three of the SWC’s 11 points. The SWC now holds a 6–4 edge in the 10 years of the Southwest Cup.
